The start and ideation process
We started idealizing the scenario given in the briefing of the commercial practice.

Rotterdam is flooded and we have to come-up with an idea of transport throughout the city.

we started taking pictures of the city itself, from buildings and the ground floor. what will Rotterdam look like? etc.

We thought of how "ski lifts" are a simple and easy to use, we wanted to connect different rooftops with ski lifts and bridges so "if the city is flooded" the mainstreet would move up to the roofs.

We also thought of a gondola "capsule/boat" working the same as a ski lift. this would also protect people from sun and the weather.

Mobility brainstorm

Our mobility
Our mobility is about the transportation of people in the general city.

We came up with a concept of using giant leaves to protect the stakeholders from the sun and weather.

The giant leaves give acces to shade, a decline in temperature and keep the air flowing throughout the city.

With new technology were able to replicate these giant leaves in a "spot on imitation" made from hard fabric including solar panels.

We'll use these leaves combined with real ones to not only color the city but imitate a "rain forest climate" so that we can provoke more bio diversity and keep the living conditions stable.

Research urban greenery
On Monday Rotterdam introduced the town to a new form of transportation: a ski lift. According to the city council this should be a solution to travel around Rotterdam.

Due the constant global temperature rising, the city subsided about forty meters in 2045. Research has shown that it is not only the subsidence that needs to be repaired, because the infrastructure does not meet contemporary requirements.

The idea is to transport from roof to roof whenever the city floods, instead of walking or taking the subway. Many Rotterdam residents are pleasantly surprised by the solution. “It is so easy to transport from Rotterdam central station to Eendrachtsplein”, says a woman who is on her way to her work.
